The Launch of the J.H.I. Steamship Co. Website: A Collective Achievement

Dear Colleagues – Dear Friends,

We are very pleased to announce the launch of our J.H.I. Steamship Co. website today, 21/12/2025, after six months of dedicated work.

In the past, we collaborated with The Web Empire, Loonatiκs, and DK Ads on two websites in industries unrelated to shipping. When I proposed working with them again for J.H.I. Steamship Co., it was because I trust them completely. They are cost-efficient, highly skilled, and devoted to leading every project to perfection, continuously improving their craft.

It is very important to me to work with people who are native to their field and deeply experienced. John Varsamis, owner of The Web Empire, an expatriate who has lived in New York for the past decade, has succeeded in building a unique development and hosting company using some of the world’s fastest algorithms and the most secure hosting servers. Loonatiκs are advanced designers with numerous awards, including 9 Edge Awards (Greek Designers Awards), Awwwards Winners (x9), CSS Design Awards Winners (x6), Ermis Awards Finalist, Pentawards 2020 Silver Winners, and Adobe Behance Winners (x37). DK Ads and Mrs. Vicky Papatsarouxa are extraordinary in visual arts and are truly among the best in Greece. Yannick Gregoire, a developer from Holland, is exceptional in high-end graphic adaptation projects.

What I observed throughout this project, and what is most important to me, is that the website 100% reflects the company’s true identity, capacity, and daily operations. All photographs and videos come from our vessels. All texts were written by our Team Managers. During preparation, I also discovered talents among our colleagues who participated, and this means a great deal to me, as I believe that if you excel in one thing, you often excel in many.

For example, our General Manager Mr. Nikos Vasileiou wrote the keywords for the opening video perfectly. Beyond being a naval architect, he could easily work in commercial advertising. He also designed the organization chart with the precision of a professional graphic artist. I also saw people who offered help immediately, such as Captain Anton Tarachenko, who sent many videos from various vessels; Captain Argyrakis, who handled photography on the Limnionas vessels; and Captain Obushchenko Oleksandr, who authorized and facilitated crew photography for our site, ensuring we received high-definition material of the required quality. Everyone who contributed to the History Timeline was polite, cooperative, and honored to be part of this new page in the Inglessis family’s shipping tradition.

The first demo was created through a direct connection between New York and the J.H.I. Steamship Co. headquarters in Palaio Faliro, with Mrs. Niki representing The Web Empire and Mrs. Evgenia Papaefthimiou serving as the J.H.I. Steamship administrator.

After this, Loonatiks coordinated directly with Yannick between Athens (Petroupoli) and Holland to finalize the design adaptation. A development triangle was formed among Athens, New York, and Holland by Loonatiks, Yannick, and The Web Empire. Following this stage, our ITC Manager Mr. Stefanos Patsikas completed the required adjustments to ensure compliance with global safety and international website legislation standards.

Vicky and I have created many commercial videos together over the past decade, usually working late at night, when silence allows creativity to flourish. We chose to begin the video with our vessel Zeus entering Porto Leone (Piraeus Port), where our Palaio Faliro offices can be seen in the distance. As the video presents our daily procedures, our values appear as visual tags, accompanying true moments from our operations, such as the dolphins dancing at the prow of Aristarxos. The video concludes with the company’s inner logo transforming into the new official logo of J.H.I. Steamship Co.

When Vicky asked me whether I had chosen the music for the video, I immediately answered that  it would be Vangelis’ “Titans” theme. I had spent several mornings in my garden thinking about the right music for the  J.H.I. Steamship Co. opening video, as the first edit had been prepared without music. I explored classical options, such as Mascagni’s Intermezzo, but instinctively returned to “Titans” , theme by Vangelis Papathanasiou for reasons I will explain later. Vicky adapted the rhythm of the “Titans” theme perfectly to the video, which consisted of various non-professional videos from our fleet that needed to be improved, corrected, and updated to replace the previous Samos Steamship Co. logo with that of J.H.I. Steamship Co. Even though the developers and Vicky initially preferred the site without music, we agreed to use the music on video during the site’s preparation phase to establish the right emotional tone for all participants.

I encountered Vangelis Papathanasiou in person two decades ago in an ING Bank branch in Plaka. I had admired his music for years. He entered the branch calm, serious, dressed entirely in white, with a mysterious, Mona Lisa like smile. I stood to honor him; he waved at me, I waved back, no words exchanged. I will never forget this short yet precious interaction.

Since assuming the position of Executive Director at Samos Steamship on 1/8/2024, I realized that the rhythm within me had long been written by Vangelis, it was the rhythm of Titans. I felt as though I was on an important expedition, carrying the flag and protecting the signal accompanying two separated armies. Throughout various challenges and “attacks,” I maintained the same values: dignity, morality, strategy, love, and silence. At times I bowed my head to avoid arrows coming from all directions, yet I never lost my steady, rhythmic steps or my determination to protect what is valuable and to remain committed to justice. As many admirers of Vangelis know, he often hides words within his compositions. In the Titans theme, the hidden word is the Greek PAME. It appears 12 times, with persistence and in two-part syllabic form:

PA – ME

Our video was completed and sent to Sony Music, the copyright representative for Vangelis Papathanasiou intellectual property rights. There was a silent tribute embedded in the video for him. Vangelis “responded”: we received the license agreements very quickly for international copyright use.

Thus, the final connection was added to our development triangle of Petroupoli, New York, and Amsterdam, and above all, into the open skies, extending invisibly over our offices, the oceans, and the open seas where our seafarers and vessels are based. The noble music of Vangelis now keeps our website, our company, our onshore teams, and our onboard seafarers under its auspices. It synchronizes all of us with a continuous, positive, determined, and noble rhythm. Music is the language of all nations. You will understand its message from the rhythm, whether your mother tongue is Russian, Ukrainian, Filipino, British, or Greek. It must be clicked to be heard, but it will always be there for those who want to discover it and for those who wish to be connected with our company’s rhythm.

Before I mention everyone who participated, I must symbolically climb the highest hill, place the flag/s there, and officially complete this project/s. Looking back, I see happiness in the eyes of all who contributed, both the active and the silent members of this long expedition in our shared home.

A question comes to mind: Is everyone happy?

The answer is NAI!

Everything was done professionally, promptly, and straightforwardly. Despite all the difficulties of such projects, clever minds stood at the prow and remained steady at the helm. Finally, thanks to proactive and timely corrective actions, the outcome was fair for all involved, and I am happy too.

As this project comes to its end, I want to dedicate to all of you who participated in any way, the piece of art I always listen to when such a project/s is completed.
