An Exceptional Experience for the J.H.I. Steamship Co. family members and its associates at the Athens Observatory, 18/9/2025.
Members of J.H.I. Steamship Co. and their associates enjoyed an exceptional evening at the Athens Observatory on September 18, 2025, as part of the company’s CSR initiatives. The event combined cultural discovery and stargazing with inspiring speeches, reflecting J.H.I. Steamship Co.’s commitment to fostering knowledge, collaboration, and strong human connections within its community.
Members of the J.H.I.Steamship Co. family and their guests had the opportunity to enjoy an exceptional evening experience during the event organized by the company at the Athens Observatory, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The event took place on Thursday, September 18, at 8:00 p.
All the employees of J.H.I. Steamship, along with its family members and the company’s partners, visited the Athens Observatory, located on Nymphs Hill in Thiseio, and were guided through its premises.
The first part of the event included a guided tour led by the Observatory’s scientific associates, Mrs. Fiori Metallinou, Mrs. Eleni Vardoulaki and Mr. Achilleas Strantzalis.The tour included a visit to the Geoastrophysics Museum and the Observatory's library, which houses a collection of historic books and documents, as well as a variety of scientific instruments from the 19th and 20th centuries.
The Museum is housed in the Observatory’s landmark building, founded in 1842 based on the designs of Danish architect Theophil Hansen, through the donation of Baron Georgios Sinas.
The tour also included a visit to the Meridian Telescope of Syggros, located at the foot of Nymphs Hill, as well as a stargazing session with a portable telescope under the Athenian night sky
In the second part of the event, participants had the opportunity to attend inspiring speeches by:
▪ Mr. Ioannis Inglessis, founder of J.H.I. Steamship, which presented the company’s vision and strategy, as well as the impressive progress made since its founding,
▪ The company’s General Manager, Mr. Nikos Vasileiou, who addressed the goals that have been achieved so far, and
▪ Ms. Anna-Maria Inglessis, whose speech focused on the magic of stargazing and its influence on our lives.
The history of the Athens Observatory was presented to the guests by the company’s legal associate, Ms. Annasa Sakaloglou.
Following the presentations, guests enjoyed a rich buffet and exchanged views about the company’s future path in the welcoming garden of the Observatory.
The event was part of the company’s policy to promote culture and scientific knowledge, as well as to provide opportunities for social interaction and to strengthen relationships among its employees.
